#LIBRARY HUNTER CUNY SOFTWARE#
It gets worse when the software doesn't work well with one another. The job gets more complicated every 6 months when they implement a new software that you need training on. You must have great connections or family members working there in order to advance. Then positions are taken off the website well after the position has been filled. You waste so much time applying for a job that is not even real.

According to CUNY, all promotions are posted as new positions publicly, but everyone must interview for the position. This place is the definition of a bureaucracy. CUNY which is 100% based on yearly contract increase with no regard to merit or performance. In contrast to say SUNY which is a 2/3 salary increase based on contract for each year and 1/3 based on merit/performance vs. And horrible system of yearly raises that are 100% based on yearly contract with no regard to performance. Little direct control over their merit salary increase. Poor system for staff advancement, particularly for those that are in lower ranked/entry level positions that report to me. Some budget constraints on some areas desired for department operation. But I have found it being even more bureaucratic than SUNY (another technical government job) and obviously way more bureaucratic than private colleges I have worked for. Huge bureaucracy being a technical government job since it is a public institution. Vacation time off is a tad bit lower than peer competition in industry when you start out, but does equalize and eventually surpass after 10 years of service. Decent benefits, but very poor Rx benefits compared to competition in sector.
